Peeps: I have a question regarding the durablility/performance of the Zeagle Octo Z. I purchased a Zeagle Ranger LTD BC approximatley 1 1/2 years ago. Although the BC itself has lived up to its billing, I have had nothing but problems with the Zeagle Octo Z. Immediately, the power inflator connection leaked so I sent it back to the dive shop who gave me a new one. However, not long there after, the power inflator connection leaked again and the reg free flowed. I took it in to my local dive shop and had it serviced and they got it working again. I also had my Aqua Lung regulator rebuilt and checked for service pressures, etc., to ensure it wasn't the problem. Everything checked out and worked well--for about six months (10 dives). Now, my Octo Z is freeflowing through the mouthpiece again! So....This is my second Zeagle Octo Z (inside 2 years) which has already been rebuilt once--only six months ago. "Is there any hope for me ever getting it fixed or is there something fundamentally wrong with the design or unit." I don't dive often, but when I do I want my gear up for the task. I am intersted in everyone's thoughts and personal experience with my issue. Thanks,.....

Post dive cleansing bad. Understand your equipment. Download some service manuals.

“Knowone”...If I understand your response..you raise a good point. To answer you...Yes, I clean my equipment after each dive. I submerse my BC, regulator and tank in clean, clear water and I let it soak (pressurized) for 30 to 45 minutes after diving. I lightly shake the regulator components in the water before lifting the unit (bc, reg and tank) out of the water. I run air (a few short bursts) through the octo and reg and then I let it all sit and dry before disassembling it. I might also add, I’ve been diving regularly since 1983 and I have never experienced this issue. Anyway, thank you for your response.

White Knight.
Call Zeagle direct. Their customer service is usually very good. I believe there was an issue with some of their octos, and they had a solution.

Do you purge under water and shake. Disconnect and connect lpi hose.
Blasting water through octo is good.

Hmmm...is the Octo Z tuned too "hot"? I'm wondering if it's not tuned to breathe so lightly that it's having trouble sealing up. You might try de-tuning it a tad to see if that helps. After all, it's only an octo.

I have an Octo Plus; I like it much better than any of the other safe seconds that you have to orally inflate via the mouthpiece. However, if I had it all to do over again, I'd probably go with the flow and get a standard octo/inflator setup.

Tech may be tuning to finely.
Screw knife edge orifice in one eigth to one quarter of a turn whilst depressing lever.
Reverse seat.
