My daughter is very interested in learning to dive. She did her discover scuba a month ago and really enjoyed it but the equipment was too big. Shes 10 years old and is pretty small even for her age. Does anyone have a really small BC or a small aluminum backplate?

I have no plans to get her certified for a while, we are just going to do discover scubas in the pool for the forseable future.

When my youngest got certified I made his BPW. The wing might be a bit much for some, but the plate is really easy... I cut it out of a cheap plastic cutting board with a Dremel and a skilsaw. 4 years later it's still doing great.
Attached is the current template.
If you wanted to roll your own wing, I can send you the pattern and how to on that
Respectfully,

James

That is a great idea. I wouldn't mind trying that out. Thanks! If you want to send me the stuff for the wing, I'd be interested.

Did you bend the cutting board at all?

Thanks so much!

Sorry about the delayed response. For single tank, a flat plate actually keeps the tank tighter to your back (more stable)... The traditional backplate design was made with doubles in mind with the channel going up between the tanks closer to the doubles bands mount bolts.
Attached is the general method on my DIY wings, and hear is an older thread I did on them:

I have a small DSS Kydex plate (13" long) and 17# wing ( 20" x 16") . You would need to add the harness and fit it to your daughter. Wing and backplate are in good condition. Inflator hose and dump valve were recently replaced. Message me if interested.
