Stuff I bought on ebay.

1. Zeagle Ranger, brand new, $350. No warranty, but I've had it for 2.5 years and it's been like my guardian angel.

2. Suunto Vyper, brand new $230. I had doubts about this as the seller was in Indonesia but it arrived within a week and I've had zero problems with it.

Conversely, stuff I bought that I wish I hadn't

1. Tilos 5mm coldwater gloves. $15. Gloves broke apart after two dives. Crap

2. Dacor wrist mounted compass. $30? Slow needle and wouldn't work even if it was slightly tilted. POS. I used it once for my AOW navigation dive and have never used it again.

I have managed to make a number of successful E-bay purchases. I will say that everything I had purchased was used.

A 98 and a 112 cu. ft. LP OMS tanks with DIN valves not a mark on them for $225 total

19 cu. ft. Pony bottle, bracket, and Dacor Tekna regulator for $125. All were in fantastic condition.

I have been extremely pleased with the purchases I have made.

Olympus PT-015 for my C5050 for $135. It was brand new in the box.
Low pressure inflator hose as a spare, Oceanic, brand new in the bag, $7
7 ft hose, new. Don't remember the price, but it was just about 1/2 of what LP was charging at that time.
3mm shorty for my son. He didn't like it, but my daughter has worn it for at least 2 years and just loves it. It cost $26, but has been worth much more in it's use.

So far only one purchase. I bought a Titanium Citizens Aqualand Duplex dive watch for $100. I bought it from a school teacher in Morehead City. He said he'd only worn it twice (don't know if it's true) but I haven't had any problems with it. I've used it for about fifteen dives and it works like a dream. They retail close to $500. It was one of those ebay items were I had to swipe it at the last second.

Thanks for the advice....
I guess it's my own fault. I already had some of the gear at a different shop that was taking WAY TOO LONG.. They had one of my DIN Regs and were supposed to service and convert to Yoke. But it was 6 weeks and all they kept telling me was that the parts were on backorder. That's where this Dive shop that charged me too much comes in...... My impatience and their willingness to take my $$.
To make matters even worse. The one BC (Scubapro SuperHawk) and Air2 were purchased "used" from that store's rental stock..... a year ago.

I have made other non-scuba related (Computer kvm) purchases on ebay. With out any problems....

Wow, sounds like your dive shop hosed you!!! Go to another one if possible! I have a few in my area, and if one cheated me like that I would never refer anyone or buy anything from them again. All the dive shops I go to I've been going to for over 20 years.

Next time try to get a price on labor per stage and parts before handing them your gear. Demand that ALL parts that have been replaced (down to the last O ring) be save so you can see the work done.

Warranties only cover about $8-$20 worth of parts...you should still pay the same for labor...if you don't...change shops!

Got several good buys on ebay
could not afford to dive without ebay...
Get a lemon once in a while but winners far outweigh loosers
Scubapro mk20/G250 - $80 reconditioned like new
rental Ziegler Night Ranger reconditioned by dive shop looked new $40 (yes $40)
three C-4 backup lights $18 each
6mm farmer john full suit for my son $12
air computers for my sons $70 AND $90
nitrox computer for myself $100

I just got my latest reg from ebay. A Conshelf XI, in good condition. I bought it because the 2nd stages looked in good condition. You couldn't really make out the first stage in the pic. Well, it is almost flawless.
Popped it onto a tank, and the primary 2nd leaked, and the octo never opened up. Well, the exhaust valve on the octo was dry rotted, so it never got suction to open the valve. I took it off, and plugged the port(it's a backup reg anyway). And I flipped the lp seat on the primary, and it breathes like a dream now. Ebay is great!

I got my jet fins for $26. However, when I opened the package, they were two different sizes. I contacted the seller. He found the other buyer, put $20 into each of our paypal accounts and asked us to ship the wayward fin to the other. I am impressed with this seller. Tried the fins out last weekend and am a happy camper! Previous purchases of software were shaky at best.

I got a Henderson Gold Core 7mm fullsuit off of eBay for $100, with the tags still on it. That was stil about $50 less than the Henderson outlet. When I bid, I figured if it didn't fit, I would stick it back on eBay, but it fits perfectly.

I bought:

1. Zeagle Ranger LTD for about $300, absolutely love it! :07:
2. DUI FLX50/50 signature series drysuit for $600 including SI-5 gloves (haven't
try it yet)...
-just replaced smaller sized gloves and also ordered waist seals for other
purpose.
