24-Year-Old Marquise Roseboro Drowns In Pond

YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- The York County Sheriffs Office is investigating a drowning.
Deputies responded to the report of a drowning at 2020 Oldfield Road at 4 p.m. Wednesday
Deputies said the victim was located in the water by rescuers. Rescuers transported the victim to Piedmont Medical Center. Deputies said attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
According to witness statements, the victim, 24-year-old Marquise Roseboro, of 7099 Ridgebrook Drand, was fishing with friends in the pond.
Deputies said Roseboro was alone in a canoe when the canoe overturned, Roseboro attempted to swim to shore but he was unable to do so. Roseboro was not wearing a life preserver and there were no life preservers in the canoe.
The York County Sheriffs Office has been assisted in this investigation by the York County Sheriffs Office Dive Team, the York County Dive Team, York County Emergency Response Team, York County Emergency Management, the York County Coroners Office, Piedmont Medical Services and the Rock Hill Rescue Squad.
