And I hope a final question (at least for a while)

My SA-3E has very limited space between the shroud and the electric motor. So little space, that getting the two bolts that attach the shroud to the compressor started is an absolute bitch.

The shroud is quite stiff, so even if I used studs instead of bolts, I don't think I could flex the shroud enough to get over them.

Has anyone come up with a creative solution?

Thanks!!

Hardly creative but a combination ratchet spanner is what we use over here.
You lot may call it a ratchet wrench.

The other alternative is use a longer belt
A 2" longer belt will give you an additional 1" gap between motor and shroud

Some how me thinks the motor may not be an original factory motor
So check the pulley ratios or the running RPM
Also if your considering the longer belt make sure you have enough room left in the baseplate slots
and inside the belt guard at the driving end (small pulley) side

This is one of the problems with buying second hand compressors
Your never sure that any and all alterations done by previous owner/ owners
are competently undertaken.

That's with most things,,,,
Cars,houses, etc

Even from new or factory

Buyer beware

How about new VW cars? That bypass emissions.....
actually it was genius...
I have seen plenty of new stuff, that's not been correct.😀

I just fixed a gearbox that the brg race fit was .015 inch over size from factory, can't figure out why it's leaked oil for 12 years.... it definitely was not worn, no step and can see original machining marks, it was Japanese...
