Figure this is a silly question but their catalog and all sales web sites show neither the buckle end or webbing end of the belt. Would like the opiton of moving some pouches to cambands or all of them to harness belt if I decide against a weight belt. Just slide off keepers and pouches? I'll call a dealer in the morning but you folks seem to be up 24/7! ;) The full belt with 8 pouches is cheaper than the pouches separately. Go figure.

Thanks, Jim

I called XS Scuba and asked them this very question. They told me it was different and that the single pouch is not the same as what's on their belt.

I called Scuba Toys first and asked them to check it out, they told me they were not the same, but me being from MO. had to have it shown to me and thus my call to the maker.

They can come off the belt however, it's just that they will not fit your camband.

Thats funny. I was looking for the same answer. I have to get a weight belt for some Aquarium dives and liked the XS belt also. Why get 6 if you can get 8 and remove them when not needed.

Been there Done that, too :)

Funny....~~~

Hey, they are doing business. They know what we want....

Edit,,, I have to clarify my post after reading XS Scuba's post... What I meant is that you can't use those pouches as a single pouch. I thought and tried it, but after seeing the real belt, No~~~~. So, I got an single weight pocket.

Hi Jim:
Sorry that this is not more clear on our website. I'll work to improve it. The answer is, yes you can remove the pouches on all of our weight belts. They're designed this way so that you can adjust the position and "lock" them in place with the 4 stainless steel weight keepers. The construction of the weight belt pouches is the same as the single weight pocket. All attach in the same way on 2" webbing. What is different is that the weight belt pouches are manufactured in groups. As example, the 4 pocket weight belt has 2 groups of 2 pockets. The 2 pocket are manufactured as one piece. The 6 pocket weight belt has 2 groups of 3 pocket. The 8 pocket weight belt, etc. The single weight pockets are best suited for your use on a cylinder cam band.

hmm - if they used the same pouches they'd either have to charge less for individual pockets, or too much for the whole belt - or everyone would be splitting them up just like this!

Well...I'll be! Amazing when one thinks they're asking a really stupid question that they think no one else would even entertain only to find out one wasn't stupid at all! I love when that happens!

XS, Thanks so much for clarifying that. I had no idea (obviously) that the pouches were grouped like that.
Yes a catalog update pic and description would definitely help as that's a cool feature for some applications...

Thanks everyone for sharing the mystery with me :)

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the clairification also. Not that I am the design specialist of the scuba world but wouldn't it make more sense to make pockets in that hold 2 weights and is removeable or you can add? Would cut down on your inventory and would also make it more flexible for users who just don't want the bulk when going from their 3mm to their 7mm or drysuit.

I just received last week 2 XS Scuba weight pockets and intend to use them as pockets, not as weight pockets.

Not good for small items, since the drain holes on the side are very big, but perfect for the aplication they are suposed to do, and the aplication I intend to do.

This pockets are very rugged and I'm sure they will last a lifetime. I'm sewing a piece of 1" webbing and d-ring to each on the inside so I can be able to clip stuff inside.

The OMS, DR and similar pockets from other top notch manufacturers are very expensive compared to the XS pouch and the drains are a small groomet on the bottom of the pouch.

I can't wait to the next dive to break-in those new pouches, for now, one is going to hold my gloves and the other is going to hold my rolled goodie bag.
