We just booked flights for a quick trip to Florida in early March. My question for those diving in southern Florida is when winds shut down diving in Key Largo, how is the diving in the Miami and West Palm Beach area affected.

If we are unlucky and can't dive in the Keys, would there be a good alternative further north?

We lost some diving to weather last summer and I would hate to see it happen on a trip where only three days of diving is planned.

Thanks
Herb

Very generally speaking if the northern Keys are shut down so is most of the East coast.
The exception might be a strong S Easterly....but strong N Easterlies are much more common.

Again, speaking very generally, the mainland closes more frequently than Key Largo.

You might actually find that when you can't dive in Key Largo or West Palm because of a strong NE wing, you can dive Key West. The opposite is true of a southeast wind.
