Not if you use hose clamps
 
Another option - especially for making a whip for the bottom of a tank -- is to get 3/8" aluminum tubing (HD dive dept) and shove the wires up inside a couple of inches then get a long 1/4" ish bolt and hammer it into the tube wedging the wires in place. Obviously the diameter of the bolt is determined by number of wires and their combined diameter.

I like using thin SS cable - pretty aggressive and gets the job done fast.

It's getting pretty ratty. Time to build a new one.

I realized on this one i packed the cables in and crimped the tube in the vise. Same result.
