probably not the suggestion you are looking for, but since I have no room on my wrists with computer, watch and compass and since I don't like a rarely used slate dangling from me, I keep wet notes in my pocket.

I don't like wrist slates.
I find them too small and they take up space I need for other things.
I use a larger one that stays in my BCD pocket. If it's in use, it tucks behind my cummerbund.

I have a wrist slate on my left wrist for quick notes, my computers are on my right wrist.

I keep wet notes in my pocket for longer missives.

pocket. Then I can use it in either hand to get buddy's attention. With wrist it's less obvious that you want him to "read this".

I use a clip on slate on a retractable lanyard, so if my buddy needs to write a note, I can just hand it to him/her.

Another vote for wetnotes

"standard" slate on a tether in my thigh pocket. Lanyard is about 2'-3' with potential to put other items on loops on it should I desire. Never liked retractors......

left arm is compass, watch, and light on a light sock. Right is computer only... I'm left handed, so no slate will work on the right side for me....
