I was reading about a wreck diving trip organized by Tech Diving Limited on their web site and they mentioned a few wrecks I was not aware of, nor could I find info on the Cal Wreck Divers site. The sites in question are called "Submarine Docking Station", off Catalina in some 200+ feet, "B-36" and "Missile Launcher" off of LA someplace in 200+ feet. I'm certainly not qualified to dive these sites but am interested in their history more than anything else.

FYI, this is a B-36 Peacemaker (aka Aluminum Overcast)

A B-36 went down off San Diego in 1952:

Jim

EXACTLY what I was looking for Jim, thank you!

Funny thing is, I read that same article several years ago and had completely forgotten about it and the accident! Even more years ago, I built models for a gentleman whose father was a test pilot for Convair from the late 30s through the early 50s, and was one of the pilots for the B-36 program.

sam miller:
The docking station was developed for the ill fated NAA DDS Beaver program about 1963.

Good ole California --where it all began!

Thanks Sam! That was all the nformation I needed to start a search on the project.

The missle tower off Imperial Beach was used for the Trident missle program.
