Ok, I got chastized a bit on another post about trying this dive from shore. I was told that this dive is a very common shore dive, but when I posted it, many people said that I shouldnt have attempted this as a new diver. I didnt see the problem, my fiance' however didnt like hitting the point at about 20 feet with a drop off ahead of us. so we turned back.
Now I have again been told that this wreck is at 15 feet. Has anyone dove this wreck? and is it at 15 feet? and diving it from shore, how long does this drop off run befor it comes back up to 15 feet?
Next time we dive it, we're going to tie off to the bouy with my pontoon boat. But just curious about the shore dive part. Thanks

It's a haul, but as a shore dive, no problem if you're up to it. From the pier, draw a line to the green bouy and it's bouyed with a jug. (Easiest way is to go out on the pier and take a look). We do a lot of ice diving there, but have also done during the summer. Bottom can be pretty silty. Since the season is coming to an end, let me know if you're interested in ice diving this winter. That area is pretty "weedy" this time of year. It's a pretty cool dive though, lots of fish.

I'm not real familiar with the LDS in Escanaba other than I've heard rumors they're not around a lot. There's a really nice LDS in Menominee if you're interested in doing some more diving. Let me know and I can hook you up with Bob.

Oh! By the way, you were close, the wreck is right on the drop off. (We do a lot of deep diving in the Bay, but that one's kinda spooky... - grin)

One more time... My husband says to tell you that there are a lot of divers from Escanab that dive with Menominee. (He does a lot of work for that shop). So if you're looking for buddies he can spread the word.
