What does the term "relief" mean when discribing a wreck? (The top of the wreck sits in 90 feet of water. There is not much "relief" on this wreck)

Relief in terms of a wreck normally means how high off the bottom the top is. So if the sand is at say 125 feet, 90 feet relief would mean the top of the wreck is at 90 feet versus 125 to the sand.

In navagation, the relief is the distance from the bottom to the top of the wreck/object. So, for the above example of a 125 foot bottom and a wreck coming up to 90, the relief is 35 feet off the bottom (125-90=35)
