Would you trust capped Petrel3 fisher OC?

Yeah, they are, some people prefer the Fischer.
I have friends who use 2 Fischer Petrels, one connected to CCR, the other a back up, gives the option to freely swap between primary and back up if there’s a problem with primary and also allows ability to dive 2 OC computers on OC dives.

I’m not one of those however, in fact I’m gonna work on selling my Fathom which has a Fischer Petrel to trade for another Fathom with a direct cable connection, I have short arms.

I know, but requires buying a new computer and the cost of doing the work, at this point makes more sense to buy my buddy’s unit and sell mine.

No issues with fischer capped Petrels on OC dives however I do periodically spray the inside with DeOxIt and keep it filled with mineral oil but part of that is mostly paranoia since the vast majority of my diving is in salt water.

While I recognize the superiority of the 4-pin AK connector, the fischer connection is still a good option for legacy mCCR rebreathers hence why I own one. At some point when Shearwater completely depreciates that connection it will force me to upgrade all my rebreathers to 4-pin connectors but because I own multiple fischer devices on multiple rebreathers I am still using it.

Since you are expressing concern maybe inspect the oring carefully before using it. But it will be fine.

The fisher oring is not accessible to inspect, nor replace. So this is impossible unless you have the world's tiniest fiber optic camera.

I would trust it but I try not to connect and disconnect my fishers extensively. Once or twice a year I deoxit, fresh oil, and reconnect. If it ain't broke I don't fix it.
