This is the wooden pier in front of Aura. The two pictures are taken in the same spot, I just spun around 90 degrees.

The buoys in cv's picture mark the swim area, it's the same pier.
180 degrees, maybe?

We've gotten a bit off topic, but this is the pier I'm talking about, the one that says (or said at one point) "Sand Dollar Sports" on it....there is a beach a ways down, but not right next to the pier. I'm not even sure if you can get to the beach walking from the pier?

That looks absolutely beautiful. I wish I were there RIGHT NOW!!

Dave, by "Palancar Beach Resort" do you mean Playa Palancar?

Playa Palancar - Rancho Dalila Palancar - COZUMEL

When I hear resort I think of a hotel complex. Did you have to move there because of something I did at Mr Sanchos?

Dear Ron,

When we refer to places like Mr. Sanchos or Palancar Beach we mean "Day Beach Resorts", that would be open only during the day.

well we still need quiet storm to come in and see which one is the right one.

Parked at palancar pier today. Got to say hi to Matteo on the Blue Angel geratric boat. (hehe, just kidding if you were on it....)

Got to look over the big Aldora boat. That is a big boat. Probably a nice ride today though. Water had some potholes on the way south this morning. Set a water bucket out and some Aldora peeps washed the sand off before get back on. Keeping your boat clean for you Dave.

Gandered a bit at the Tres Pelicanos boat. (also a bit geratric today.... but the one guy had on a cool Truk Lagoon wreck shirt. )

So if this is the pier in question, why would a dive op plan on going to this pier at all? It it because of it's location?

You wouldn't think so. The question is: Is that the pier? It isn't "way south" but it matches otherwise....

If all the boats you saw today were "geriatric", what the heck do we call your boat, The Go To The White Light Special? ;)

Crappy photos BTDubs, but I'm with ggunn, take me to that crappy pier NOW, please! And in no way is my comment meant to belittle the OP or minimize his bad experience. I just really need to get back to the island and have the opportunity to have a crappy time... cuz it's GOT to be better than this crap I'm doing now. I'd love to go on that big Aldora boat, too bad I'm not old enough.

Actually the "big" Aldora boat is only 36 ft on the water line but sprouts a 2 ft bowsprit and 2 ft Swim platform to 40 ft so we can still take out divers when their is a partial port closure. BUt don't think slow as it is just as fast as our smaller boats and even with other divers on board it is still 6 max per dive group. Actually, many of our small boat divers prefer the larger boat...easy ride and its got a head. Plus it is capable to dive the other side by going around the north end when winds are calm.

Oh, I'm aware of how awesome your boat is Dave (picture of me on Aldora dock as pulls away :( ). The 'dig' was not directed at the Aldora, but at Chief's description of her (and the other boat's) passengers.... ;)
