i don't know any *divers* like that, but there are *posters who talk about diving* like that right here on the forum.
you can't fix it. they don't see it. they won't see it. tell them if it makes you feel better, they will ignore you & think you're foolish & hopefully go elsewhere to .

She sounds like your typical very intelligent person who doesn't have a bit of common sense.

It's called incompetence. Incompetent people do not realize their performance is subpar and thus make no effort to change or improve. Tough love probably won't help. I had an employee like this once. No matter what I did, training, coaching, etc. he just didn't get it. He thought his performance was just fine. Eventually, he moved out of my department before I had to let him go. Luckily I haven't had any dive partners like this.

Is she dangerous or just has bad form? Dangerous.. you owe it to her to keep talking regardless of what she hears right now. Friends don't let friends hurt themselves diving... or something like that.

Does she want to go deeper?
You can beat this woman across the head with a 2X4 while telling her how bad she sucks, it still would do no good. Her instructor on the last dive was trying to tell her the long list of problems and she goes off on a story about a horse! She is taking rescue. My big fear is that she has this dream of becoming a DM on the boat she has invested in. That will get someone killed.
BTW, if she calles me baby killer one more time, Im gonna smack her.
PS, she was proud of her self on the second dive becouse she was so much better. It was this dive that I PMed about the first time.
