Word to the wise for Bonaire

If you go to Bonaire and rent a vehicle, remember some simple rules. DO NOT leave anything in them that you would hate to part with. Theft does happen down there. Also, do not lock the vehicle, as this will only result in a pricey broken window should someone want to get in. At the end of one shore dive we returned to our truck to find it had been gone through and the only thing missing was a cheap hat(mine). So if you are in Bonaire and see someone wearing a red hat with the word "WHASSUP!" on the front, you can tell them you know where they got it and watch thier response

This is a well known rule for Bonaire. Just leave nothing in the truck, and leave the doors unlocked. I have been there three times, and our truck always gets the once over. Nothing was ever taken (they are looking for cash, mostly)...

Heck, that hat needed a good home. I hope the thief gets more use out of it than I did. I just feel left out as the middle man. I just hope the new owner "gets" it. I got the next hat all picked out. It's blue and white and says "DUNNO".
