Now there’s a huge backup at the Panama Canal due to water levels, plus some concerns about commercial shipping transiting the Suez Canal due to the Israel-Gaza situation (a few commercial vessels have been attacked or threatened - and these vessels apparently had no ties to Israel).

The situation at the southern Red sea area will most likely get worse, much worse, as the war up north continues.

Does anyone know if the Red Sea situation is affecting liveaboards at all?

 
The US east coast/gulf dock workers’ union contract expires 9/30. Looks like they will be on strike. They appear to be chomping at the bit to walk out. Their last strike was in 1977, compared to the west coast union that seems to go out every 5-6 years.

Harsh! (for those who don't know, MSC, Mediterrenean Shipping Company) has the largest marketshare of container shipping, just under 20%, Maersk is second.

Harsh, but true. Their vessels slip days worse than anyone else I deal with and we have a lot of containers booked with MSC.

I have all sorts of nicknames. The freight forwarder BDP is Bad Damn Poor. I coined that about 1999 when I worked for an importer who did a lot of business with BDP.
