Woman, 60, dead in Bridlington Bay diving tragedy - Yorkshire Post
A WOMAN diver died this afternoon following an incident in Bridington Bay.
A dive boat operating in Bridlington Bay alerted the UK Coastguard just after 2.30pm to report that the 60-year-old woman, who had been diving as part of a group, was unconscious but still breathing.
The Humberside-based UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter airlifted the woman to Hull Royal Infirmary, where she was declared dead on arrival.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard agency said a male diver was taken to a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber as a precaution.
The Flamborough RNLI inshore lifeboat also attended the incident.
Lucy Hicks of Humber Coastguard, said: “This is a very sad outcome and our thoughts are with the lady’s friends and all those who tried to help her.”

Terrible that her body has not been released after all this time.

Obviously she had breathing problems. If her tank/s still contained sufficient air, then there must have been another problem. Only real possibilites are valve not fully on, a faulty regulator or more likely (considering the previous two are easy to prove/disprove), scuba diver pulmonary oedema. She fits into the right category, female, over 50 and in cold water.
