As was noted in the cross-posting from the Quest list, the divers of the WKPP realized the goal of almost 17 years of exploration in the Woodville Karst Plain by making the connection between Leon Sinks and Wakulla Springs by way of a new lead over 11000 feet downstream from Turner Sink.

I've posted a video of the connection being made between Leon Sinks and Wakulla Springs:

Also, news reports are starting to make it to the web. Here's the story from the Tallahassee Democrat:

We'll be working throughout the day to put together an image gallery of topside shots. I'll post a link as soon as it is done.

This is an awesome achievement.
Great job done by the guys and gals of the WKPP.

Agreed, this is outstanding.

Hey.. stop teasing us with the youtube stuff! Comeon with the good video already!! :)

I watched the youtube earlier to day. I can't even imagine what it's like to cap 17 years of effort like these guys have put in. As a resident of the local area and a former DEP employee in the water division, I am hopeful this will usher in needed changes in water management and will benefit everyone here.

Truly exciting from both a diving, and human perspective.

Let me tell you, it looks pretty awesome on the Samsung 1080p monitor...

Too bad that there's not a cost efficient way to distribute it in HD format.

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE FROM THE WKPP and ALL SUPPORTING THEIR ENDEAVORS!!!

It's a great day to see how so much time, effort, and determination can come to such a great ending...or actually a new beginning! It only excites me more to further my abilities to get a closer peek into the beauty of the underworld!

Happy Diving!
