Well, with Haigh wrapping up the season in a few weeks and Jerry pullling the Len-Der for the winter...just what options are there for some local (IN/IL/WI) diving over the winter season? Thanks...

Well, you got your shore diving all over lake Michigan. A friend who's still running a boat, even better. Then you've got your ice diving. Lot's of oppurtunities if you look. Heck, as president of the Urge to Submerge dive club, I'm leading a caravan up to Door county for some shore diving on November 5th. Your welcome to join us. Just bring a Kazoo.

Kinda far for you, but Blue Springs near Shelbyville, IN, stays open all winter. Typically not worth the drive from Chicago, but if you're really wanting to get wet, not a bad option. It is a decent quarry, although a bit rustic compared to Haigh. It maxes out at around 45'.

yeeeehaaa! Count me in, prez!

I like the Avatar Smoothfin, looks kinda familar. Ha. It will be great to have you along. I have to get my fingers busy and get the announcement out to the Club. We picked the date at the last meeting. You missed Dennis getting his head shaved for MS. Talk about a reason to get to the meetings. Doing Pewaukee Lake tomorrow???

Lake Wazee, WI.

You can enjoy all year around at $75/year.

Again, how much? $75/Year $75/YEAR...........

===============================================================

Dive fees are $10.00/day for each individual diver using the lake, or $75.00/calendar year for each diver. Dive fees are required all year. Admission fees are also required which are $3.00/vehicle/day or $15.00/vehicle/year. Vehicle admission fees are required between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and dive fees are required all year. Fees can be paid at the contact station between Memorial Day and Labor Day, or divers can self-register at the contact station in the absence of a park attendant.

Hoosier, I've heard theres camping up there. Is that right on site? Local motels for the tent challanged?

Tanks

There is camping on site, although there is no running water. There are some other campgrounds nearby that have running water, although only during the summer (Memorial day through Labor day or something like that).

There is a Holiday Inn Express and a Super 8 nearby.

There are two dive shops that I know of, although I've always gone to Wazee Sports, now conveniently located near the lake. Keith has nitrox, helium, and argon.

For food, I also recommend Molly's in downtown Black River Falls- they serve some of the local microbrews there.

It sounds like "do it easy" answered pretty much........

I prefer the hotel to the camping.
