Hi all,

Would love to get your opinions. I just bought a short backplate for a travel setup, and alas, it doesn't attach to my current Hollis ST35 without an STA.

Was planning to purchase a smaller travel wing for this setup in the near future anyway, so looking for any recommendations for 18-25lb wings that have cam slots that will fit a shorter plate.

Would also appreciate if anyone has any recos for cheap, lightweight STAs I can use in the meantime for a trip later this month (already looking at Piranha).

Thanks in advance!

I've used the Oxycheq travel plate and 18# wing for years. High quality, packs super small and light.

Was just seeing a thread about Oxycheq's and definitely interested 🙏 Would appreciate if you know anyone trying to let go of one, cos retail on the new ones are

OxyCheq soft travel plate, OxyCheq 18 lb wing, OxyCheq Speed Harness.
The Oxycheq wing has two sets of slots for cam bands, and 4 well spaced Sex Bolt holes.
Appreciate the reco! Would appreciate if you know anyone trying to let go of one! 🙏

Northeast Scuba Supply has them for $449 so, not cheap but very good quality and durability. Direct from Oxycheq is $475 so a modest savings. I have one of their 17# Razor wings (the wing that pre-dated the Mach V) that I could be persuaded to turn loose of to a loving home. It's more trim that the Mach V and folds into a carry-on bag better but doesn't seem as robust. Plus it's about 18 years old.

One thing to know about Oxycheq is that when you email them or call them for support, it's Patrick that picks up the phone. He is the owner of the business, designer of their wings and super helpful.

is the OxyCheq combo (travel soft backplate + harness) essentially “one size fits all?” I’d like to get my wife a new travel BCD and also something my son can use when we hit the local quarry without my wife. Sonny boy is slim and 6’, while my wife obviously is not built like a teenage boy (thankfully!)

I’ve also heard the OxyCheq wing isn’t as good for travel as some other options. Any truth to this or just internet rumor?

I have the DR Travel EXP and the DGX single. Travel is 25#, DGX is 30#. Both work great with single 80's or HP100's. I don't use an STA. I've had the DR for about 13 years with no issues in that time. The DGX I recently received as a gift. Both are durable and very well made, but the DGX has the nicer price. I've had great experiences with both companies CS.
