Hello, Im going to start diving Doubles This summer. Just wondering whats the best wing that cave/tech divers are using, Im going to be taking my Tech Courses after summer.
Chris

Asking about the best wing is like asking which color is best :)
I love my Halcyon Evolve 40. Oxycheq makes serveral great doubles wings, as does DSS, and others. What type/size tanks are you planning on using, what size wing are you looking for?

Well i think im mostly going to use steel 80, I am a small guy. I want a strong wing, that has be proven to work awesome with the weight of steel and gear. Im new to this world and I have been working close with the dive shop im going to do my course with. But Scubaboard has soo much more info and I like to hear stuff coming from more then one person.

I do Halcyon exporer 55 diving double 108's and dry suit and haven't had any problems. I have seen several of the SS LP valves blow apart or fall apart for no apparent reason so you want to make sure and get the plastic ones.

I dive an Evo 60, my buddy dives a Agir 56, both are good wings.

YMMV

To select a wing you need to first determine how much lift your application requires. That will narrow the field.

Then you need to take look at the specifics like the tanks you plan to use, your height / body type, exposure suit etc.

HP80's are short heavy tanks. I would not be surprised if you end up heads down/ feet up due to the tanks. You may well need a wing with more lift towards your shoulders and less at your hips. You may also want to consider different tanks.

Im thinking 108s, Dry suit, I am 5-5 and I am 125 pounds. I am a small guy, If this helps a little bit?
Chris

You aren't gonna need a lot of wing. 108s aren't that negative, and if you're in a drysuit, you're going to be nearly neutral anyway depending on undergarments.

I'll be interested to see what Tobin says, but I bet 40# would be plenty.

Chris,

Do you have your drysuit? Do you know how buoyant you are in just the undies and suit?
