The guys at the shop fixed me up. I'm going to see about getting an assembly with a thicker cord as I dislike the thin cord.

the DSS is the only one with a thicker cord to my knowledge unless you DIY and drill out the assembly and the sealing plate. Most deep it not worth it and spend the $20 on the OPV from DSS

For 20 bucks, I'd do it myself if I thought it was necessary. (I did do one a long time ago/still works fine)

The problem with the "industry standard" OPV is the hole in the cup that retains the soft seat is too small to accommodate the knot on a larger diameter pull cord.

Drill out whatever you want, but the know remains the issue. Usually what happens is the knot on the thicker cord gets melted and smashed into the small recess. The cord breaks at this melted knot.

Here you can see the two "cup" styles side by side, DSS on the left, "Standard" on the right.

Revising the "cup" also requires an all new outer Cage or cover as the new cup is taller and the "Standard" opv covers won't allow it to open.

Thicker cord requires special cup, special cup requires new OPV cover.

These all Delrin Parts are molded in house at DSS.

DSS also uses only domestically sourced and formed stainless springs. That's why there was no DSS OPV recall.....when nearly all the wing brands had rusty springs that were furnished as part of foreign produced OPV assemblies.

I've used 3.00mm mono leader, with a crimp at both ends. Much easier to pull on the crimp and I only used a half crimp below the gasket.
