I don't like Windows 8 either but at least it's still windows.. the MAC OS X isn't even really an APPLE OS anyways. It is UNIX kernel with a mac style gui.

I prefer Windows 7 or Linux myself.

I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying the UNIX kernel is somehow inferior because Apple didn't develop it?

It seems to me that the UNIX kernel is a very solid operating system, and Apple didn't see any need to invest considerable resources to develop their own kernel and realize marginal improvements (if any).

Holy bison poop... are you saying that Win 8 locks onto a single motherboard so that if I upgrade to a new MB, Win 8 no longer recognizes my license. If that's a fact, I've had it with Microsoft for good. If I have to buy a new OS and license for any major hardware upgrades to my computer, they've definitely lost me.

That's not accurate, I did a hardware upgrade two weeks ago on a win8 system and am still using the same license. There wasn't anything special I had to do.

Check your activation my friend
Cant imagine why a company doing close to 400,00 computer repairs a year would post something not true
we are authorized providers for HP, Samsung, Sony, Dell, Acer, Asus, and Toshiba computers
maybe my techs and manufacturers just made it all up to make me crazy

And by upgrade, did you mean a motherboard
Upgrading anything else will not effect it
It is also possible that if you did replace a mother board the software that comes with it, had a built in injection tool.

I don't see a huge difference between Win 8 and Win 7. Win 8 is Win 7 with metro capability added to it. They changed the Start button behavior and you have to be more deliberate about getting your icons on the front page. Perhaps that may help those that like 10,000 icons on the desktop. :-) Other than that... pretty much Win 7.

BTW, the Apple OSes are not the same across tablets and laptops, etc. One is iOS and the other is Mac OS. Similar feel but not actually the same.

If it wasn't for games.. I would never see a windows OS anymore and I work in IT for a living. Im a Linux guy

Can't really tell. I'm stuck to Vista (sigh).
