Compaq Eva N800c is my laptop. I installed windows 7 on it yesterday. But it doesn’t detect my audio device in my laptop. But earlier I used windows Xp and it was worked fine. Can anyone tell me the reason why I won’t detect my audio device? :depressed:

I hope this helps... Took some time to find anything relating to your system and Windows 7 besides all the sites I would question... This is from HP and the link is provided below...

I also saw where it said to run multiple "check for updates" for Windows 7... I have been unable to find a driver for you but then you probably looked pretty hard before asking here...

Best to you, lee

Known issues that can occur after installation
The following table lists known issues and possible solutions or workarounds after performing an installation of Windows 7.

WARNING: Performing a custom install may delete the Recovery partition and the HP Recovery Manager program. In that case, you can only recover the operating system by using the Vista Recovery discs you created earlier, or by purchasing a retail version of the desired Windows operating system.

Hardware Issues Fix or workaround
Audio drivers for sound chips in Vista are not compatible for Windows 7. Install the latest HP driver updates for the installed operating system for your model notebook from the HP Drivers and Downloads web page.

or

Install the latest Microsoft Windows 7 compatible driver using Windows Update .

I tried to find the audio spec for your machine, but none of the PDF's I looked at felt the owner might need this information - this proves them wrong.

Chances are you need drivers for both the audio processor and HP buttons that control the audio. The XP or better, the Vista drivers for your system should work with Win7. Windows 7 is mostly just Vista with some visual improvements. Most likely only 32 bit will be available, so make sure your using Win7 x86 (32 bit).

If that doesn't work, find out the audio chip manufacture and part number and go to the source, i.e. Realtek.

Also, give PC forums a try, not dive forums. The title computers is really dive computers and connecting them to computers. The PC forums will have more expert advice than a SCUBA board.
