Are regulators made with replacable mouth pieces? Or is replacing one considered beyound first echelon maintence?

YES it will...you will void the warranty!!!!!!!!

UM KIDDING!

No change as you wish...the stock ones are crappy anyways...get the gooder one.

My service guy (SP) complains that the smaller oriface outlet on the sea-cure was impeding the flow the reg was designed to perform optimally.

He showed me how small the inside was compared to the factory mouthpiece and then explained the physics of the flow....I thought I would never get out of there, this subject is his new pet peeve. He did not say anything about the warranty though.

Didn't seacure recently come out with new larger-bore mouthpieces? I seem to recall reading that somewhere, but it could be hunger pains from missing lunch...

I am not a Sea-cure mouthpiece fan from an air sharing perspective. In most real OOA situations the OOA diver ends up grabbing the primary.

That has potentially bad implications when the primary reg has a long tabbed, hard and very custom Sea-Cure mouthpiece on it that may or may not fit well in a generic mouth of a semi-panicked person.

I won't dwell on it, but the tech is also right that a mouthpiece with a small orifice does greatly reduce the flow and creates more back pressure inside the regulator inmuihc the smae was does keeping the flow vane adjusted to the "min" or "-" setting.

Thanks folks.
I was worrying about the interchangability and the possibility that an after-market MP might become detached at depth either accidentilly, or if grabbed by a panicked buddy.

Normal silicone mouthpieces stretch to fit whatever reg they're used on, so they're almost perfectly interchangeable. Some mouthpieces, like the SeaCURE are not so stretchable, which is why they have different sizes.

As for attachment, as long as you put the mouthpiece on completely and use a zip tie to secure it (as pretty much all mouthpieces do), it should be just as secure as the original (which was attached the same way).
