Unless you went with a NERD on a rebreather how would you upgrade from a Petrel? Unless Shearwater comes up with something even better.

Yeah, I trimmed the straps on mine and melted the ends without fraying. It's not going to melt as fully/nicely as nylon - I think it's the elastic that doesn't melt well - but it seems to hold up just fine.
