I'm a Fish!
For most non-technical, recreational diving the A3 is a perfect fit. This is why many of us that dive together love it:

1) You can still install an octo if you want to and have it as a 3rd air source
2) Convenience of location and less hoses, no additional straps, etc.
3) The AS3 is built like a regulator 1st and an inflator 2nd unlike the AS2. Easy breathing.
4) Easy to find when the OOA dive grabs your primary since you use it for buoyancy on a regular basis anyway
5) One less port taken up on your 1st stage that allows you to hook up more LP toys.

If you don't like them, don't buy one.
If it does not fit your style of diving, don't buy one.

I use one and love it. There are times I use a pony bottle so I have 3 sources of gas.

When I go to the IDC, I will be adding my octo back onto my 1st stage since I know I will need one for that.

Glad you like it!

There are certainly many MANY threads here arguing the merits back and forth about this item, and I don't see a need to rehash the arguments.

I just wanted to point out one thing. Unless you bring a pony and you are diving independent doubles (or manifolded doubles and you are up on your valve skills) you have two sources of gas. You may have three ways of delivering these two sources of gas, but that's not quite the same thing...

:)

Correct, as I mis-spoke. Yes, 3 ways to deliver, only 2 sources. Thank you for calling me on that.

I just got a kick out of the "Why we hate............" thread so I figured why not start one in the opposite direction about the A3 and not the A2.

LOL

I'll bet that the thread is pretty much the same, whether it starts with hate or love...

Safe diving!

I'm delighted that you like your equipment choices! With as much as this sport costs, it's nice to see someone get their gear the way they want it.

...as an aside, I'd hope you would be as supportive of the satisfaction I have with my gear...

All the best, James
