As a long time user of both Canon and Nikon film SLR's and digital point and shoots, my (painful) experience is that Canon does everything possible to avoid their warrantee responsibility while Nikon does everything possible to fulfill theirs. Tech differences nonwithstanding, I bought a D90 and never looked back.
