Well, maybe the fact that they are also known as scubaflo has something to do with it.......

I don't use apeks but I do tek dive so here's my criteria:

1) Performance/design
2) Parts and DIY service 'friendliness'
3) Does it look good next to black gear...

(I use zeagles (4) and dive-rites (2) with an old sherwood (1))

Depending on their age the Zeagles are Apex. Until recently Zeagles were relabled Apex regs. My Zeagle actually came in an Apex box.

I prefer Apeks because they are super reliable, and ease of breathing on them. On open circuit scuba, I prefer my Apeks to any other reg, but many regs out there are just as good. Some of the benefits to other regs like the poseidons, mares, and dive rites is their ability to troubleshoot on site. With Apeks, it is a little more difficult to open it up without the proper tools, and you REALLY need to know what you are doing. With my Jetstreams, it is just a simple diaphragm and lever mechanism, BUT the work of breathing is horrendous for 60 feet and shallower.
IMHO :coffee:
