Why is the rear dump valve different in Tech wings & Rec BC's

I was just asked this question & I have to admit,... I truly don't know.... Why is it that most wings (especially technical) have the rear dump valves valves on the left side, while most Recreational BC (both jacket & back inflate) have their valves on the right? When I think about it, I naturally go for the left on my wings & it can take me a try or 2 to find the dump on my rec BC. I guess I'm just a technical geek....

My guess would be that the stage bottles are carried on the left so maybe more air on that side to counteract the weight. It could also be that the scooter is operated with your right hand so the dump valve is on the left to make adjustments on the fly.

I noticed that when I went from my Avid to the MKV wing. I do like having the back dump and inflater on the same side. It keeps my left hand free for things like a light at night.

inflator is typically on the left so i suppose it makes sense to have all bc adjustment be on the same side.

computer/depth gauge is usually on the right so it would also make sense to always have your depth visible while making bc adjustments...

or it could be something else entirely idk lol

It's a system.

Buoyancy (inflator hose, wing pull dump, dry suit dump valve) and SPG are on the left, timer/computer is on the right.

Stage bottles go on the left (wing pull dump knob replaced with cave line) so the bottles don't interfere with the long hose routing (under the canister) on the right.

Goodman handle for the light goes on the left hand, which frees the right hand up for air shares.
