Diver Dennis:
Don't worry Jason. I'll still be your friend, even if that old Paolo is a grouch...:D

Didn't we go over all this already? remember? we decided the PI was a horrible place, with terrible diving, unsavoury food and ugly women? I also volunteered to "take one for the team", and dive there, and dine and wine their women so none of you would have to. remember that?

Now you people go spreading lies about how good it is. Sheesh.. I'm doing you all a favour.. really...

Now that Los Angeles, California has become a Third World Cesspool, I think I was far safer in P.G. than when I got back to Los Angeles.

And unlike the majority population in Los Angeles, at least the majority population in the P.I. spoke English AND made me feel welcome.

It has been a few years since I dove at Subic, I got my cert. there in 1977 but it was beautiful!!!! I remember it was very exciting to visit the many wrecks there and I always remembered the tiny blue fish that swarmed around us. I would love to be able to go back some day.

Phils, can also be a little too rough and tumble for the average mag readers.

A co-worker of mine got severely beaten at the Point Bar in Puerto Galera by some locals. Another got an ice pick (by a local) in the back in Malate. When I was in Boracay, an Israeli got stabbed to death by a local.

Manila is on the same pverty level as Lagos, Nigera. Moving around is very difficult and there are hustlers everywhere.

All can be very intimidating for the average traveler.

I personally never had a bad experience in my two years. But even now, I recommend people looking for a vacation to go to Thailand over Phils.

I don't know if more publicity would help the local tourism industry or just make it worse. Overdevelopment seems to be a real worry.
