Today I had to dive jacket BC for the first time sense I got certified, and it was horrible. To start my reg was unintentionally left at my dive buddys house, witch was a great start to my day, then fortunately we had an extra our so we thought, due to a non interchangeable inflator hose we had to wait till the other two people we were diving with to come back up so I could use one of their bc's. Well it turned out I was going to be diving a jacket bc. I put it on and the fit wasn't right but it wasn't bad, I flipped over the side and headed down got to the bottom and the current was ripping. It was so unstreamlined I could barely swim against the current but that wasn't the only thing it had so little lift it could barely keep me off the bottom and I'm only 160lbs, well needless to say it was a horrible dive but we made it back safely.

Ive been certified for alomost three years now and and I have always dove a back inflate untill I recently switched to a bp/w.

that sounds like a well-planned, well-executed dive, where safety was the number one concern

also, you did a good job in managing your equipment and making sure you had everything ready for a day of diving

all in all, sounds like you got it under control ...

Sounds like you were over weighted. Easy to do when switching kit. Little to no air should be needed in your BCD to keep you off the bottom if you are weighted properly (neutrally buoyant).

No offense meant, but why are you standing on the bottom and so un-streamlined in your picture?

Well, we have some indication as to why you hate that BC you were using but still no info on why you love your BP/W...

just rotate the picture 90 degrees and it all makes sense

there are no bad divers ... there are only PICTURES of bad divers

and those you can photoshop
