Hey Guys~

I wrote a post for my internship and hope you guys can read it as well and let me know what you think.

I hope that my post can create a small thought that will linger in the people who read them and perhaps be able to influence their daily habits through awareness.

We need to be the start of the change we want to see.
As divers, we wouldn't want to go diving at the same place and all the time see it only get from bad to worse.

At the same time, it would be awesome if you guys can help me Like the page and post on Facebook if you think its good :D

Interesting, my wife and dive buddy for the last 30 years have discussed at length about giving back to the oceans we love so much when we retire. We want to work with coral farming and reef cleanup. We wish there was a web site dedicated matching volunteers with worth while organizations wanting help. Maybe that would be a good next project for you? Matching divers with worth causes? Roll with it and let us know. Anyone else have a similar dream?

HeyWildBill!

Yes, I actually thought of that.. Because most of this restoration projects usually only accepts cash donation and not really engaging divers to go do it themselves.. It came idea came across to me before but i thought it would be really hard unless the interested Diver is in my region (south east asia) which then i can make the relevant arrangement. Not through the company though, as a personal project. Hahaha. which means i'll hook the diver to the dive center and im not earning a single cent doing that. Just like charity work.

Perhaps if you have ideas, you could PM me and we can chat ^_^ Would be super happy to help that way even if it means translating for the diver so he can go restore the oceans :D

I've spent most of my adult life educating people about our oceans and working on conservation-related projects. I think this is becoming more common, especially here in California, especially as more information gets out about the threats facing our oceans.

People know whats going on but because it is not directly happening in their backyard, they brush it off so easily!

I think that is a gross generalization. Many divers here are very actively involved in dealing with threats. It may not be the same where you are... I don't know the situation there.

I’ve done conservation expeditions recording the state of reefs. However, diver efforts to clean up rubbish is insignificant to the amount dumped by shipping, pleasure boats and countries using the sea to dispose of their rubbish.

But to you question: I dive to see the marine life.

I have always agreed here. Likewise re the diver efforts to eradicate Lionfish. I did read where there is something being developed somewhere that addresses the real problem--reaching the vast numbers of Lionfish that are below recreational dive limits. All know I dive to collect shells (and to spear maybe 6 flounders a year and take 25 scallops). A very old discussion, but again, extremely small potatoes compared to commercial fishing, agricultural pollution, global warming, etc.
