MC:
Wonder if a group would like to see about flying into Cancun and doing the bus/ferry thing as it appears there are better flight options for that route vs. Cozmel direct.

I'm flying into Cancun, but I'm also, so far, traveling solo. To me the direct flight is well worth dealing with van rides ($9 per person one way) and ferry rides ($11 per person one way) I also have the earliest flight in and a late flight out to account for the travel times. With a group or kids all that may be a lot more difficult to manage.

I really like the idea of flying into Cancun and out of Coz, I wish I had thought about that before I booked my flight and checked the price difference.

Well..it is official. As I mentioned before, I am dealing with ear issues after getting certified. After two different docs (one at an urgent care facility the other my GP), my ENT has informed me that I have a ruptured tympanic membrane (eardrum). She advises that my diving days are over (even before they really got started). After she attempts a non-invasive "fix", we will see how it heals. At that point I will re-evaluate my options. A second opinion might be in order. I really don't want to give up diving, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

At any rate, I wish you all safe travels and happy underwater times. I will look for you from the beach.

Post that on Dive Medicine. Maybe the physicians who post there can help. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your ruptured eardrum, but while it's painful it's not irreparable. Your diving days may just be postponed. I had a ruptured eardrum which fortunately healed on its own and most do, but even if you do need surgery it will be out patient and you probably will be just fine by the time this invasion happens.

I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!:D

Your mother dresses you funny! :D

Sorry about your ears. I hope the attempt at levity lightens it up for you!

I am REALLY hoping things are only postponed. Thanks for the encouraging words.

MdMedic, if you haven't talked to a diving physician, you need to. Dr.Mike is an impressive and helpful ENT here...
