Thanks. They never seem to answer the phone! I left them a message this time. They say they'll call back ... we'll see. Fortunately, I've got some time to keep trying.Dryglove:Check with Monterey Bay Dive Center, http://www.montereyscubadiving.com/

The website just says "tanks", but I'm hoping.
That makes sense. I did try to time my calls appropriately for that reason.Dryglove:If its a nice day for diving they are probably pretty busy(classes, airfills, etc) as they are right on the water by breakwater which is a really popular dive spot.
You may want to try mantaraydive.com but if i remember right they dont do steel rentals but check and see to make sure.
If you are not worried about nitrox also check with Aquarius at breakwater Phone: (831) 375-6605
melfox26:Manta Ray Dive shop is on Foam, 1 block up from Monterey Bay Dive Center. They should have steels to rent.

If you're coming from the Bay Area, there are quite a few shops to rent tanks from:
www.diverdans.com is in Santa Clara (near SJ airport)
www.cadive.com is in San Bruno (near SF airport)

I'm flying in, so cadive could work too. I'll check that out too. It'll mean keeping the tanks for a few extra days, but so what?melfox26:If you're coming from the Bay Area, there are quite a few shops to rent tanks from:

They're definitely top on the list, but don't answer their phone or messages. Maybe today will be different. In any case, I'l like to have some reserved. AL80s just don't work for me -- I'm too short.D_O_H_:MBDC did have about a dozen LP 80s for rent last weekend, so you should be all set unless someone else has come and rented them all.
What I'd love are my Faber HP80s, but I doubt that's going to happen. Great point about asking for a specific tank type & size. I think Manta Ray has the short 72s, which should be OK.Chuck Tribolet:You might want to be more specific than just "steel tanks". Old-fashioned 72s? HP63s? LP120s? Or ????
