A taxi driver pointed this out to me as we left PDC for Cancun the other day, and this time it seems that Google maps is aware of it. We tried this once many years ago with poor maps and a bad understanding - going north to the Cancun airport, taking the toll road west, only to learn that you couldn't get off there - not until we got to Valladolid, where we turned around and tried again on the free road. We got there eventually.

So this looks like a real time saver. I guess it's a toll road - at least part way? Did they fix all of the potholes on the road north?

No comments yet, huh...?

After once driving from PDC to Chiquila with plans based on the maps available 10 years ago, then learning the hard way that we could not exit the toll road halfway between Cancu and Valladolid - or anywhere close, then learning what we could do as the daylight hours ran out - I am curious as to what has changed? Here is the route we ended up taking that day, altho I think it took a lot more than 5-1/4 hours...

I played a little more with Google map trip plans, and it looks like they claim that one could take the road south of the airport over, then turn west, then exit okay - but maybe they didn't mean the toll road...?

From the airport as an origin, Google maps claims I can take either of two exits - but again, maybe they don't mean the toll road? I remember both of those intersections with the free road, but question the ability of getting from the road south of the airport to the free road...?

Maybe you can, but I have seen Google maps wrong before. :idk:
