My primary dive buddy is my boyfriend and we dive with a group of DIR divers that a mutual friend of ours started. www.sfl-dir.com

Thanks, guys, for the input and the invites. I'm glad to learn that many DIR divers are willing to dive, and share their expertise, with others.

Even what you've said on this thread has been very helpful. In my OW training, the buddy system was barely mentioned. That's something I've been thinking about a lot. I've discovered that even most DMs I've dived with didn't seem to care much about buddy procedures. As a fairly new diver, I've felt a little funny about insisting, with a divemaster or someone with several hundred dives under their belt, that we go over procedures, plans, and protocols; but I've found that if I don't, it probably won't happen.

I've learned quite a bit by trial and error, but I really want to know more and do better.

Now, since you've offered, I'd absolutely LOVE to dive with you. Getting over to Seattle to dive seems like an impossible dream right now, but I've found that all the best things in life seem to start with a dream.

All the best--
