I'm curious to know what percentage of people bring a snorkel when they dive.

I always have one in my dive bag. I use it whenever I expect to be spending any time on the surface.

I don't like my snorkel, but I have it with me in case I need to use it.

The only time I have a snorkle is during my SI!

Don't dive or even bring one !!!

Rescue course tells you otherwise ??

No ...

No snorkel while diving as it would be in the way of deploying the long regulator hose (Stored wrapped around my neck), just in case my dive buddy ever needs it.

For snorkeling though I do swear by my dry snorkel, even though it is not cool.

If I am doing a shore dive where I might expect a long surface swim then I will carry one either in my belt or even dangling nerd like on my mask. Otherwise I do not carry one and do not need one and do most of my surface swimming on my back anyways. For most diving they are an annoyance and nothing more. Since the majority of my dives are from boats--no--no snorkel.

OH, BTW, I have a simple, old fashioned J tube Shotgun snorkel. I do not have those stupid gigantic dry snorkels or snorkels with balls in them or any of that silliness.
