Another statistical "blip" is the active scuba divers who hold no certification whatsoever (and are thus invisible in the eyes of the certification agencies). There are fewer and fewer every year, but there are still a chunk of them in this part of the world.

Sam,
Wasn't that when they had those spinning things in front of airplanes;)?

I have a basic knowledge of a few airplanes which had those things in the front that went round and around called propellers
....But FYI
I am more intimately familiar with F-86 Sabre Jet...

That's very cool, Sam. I hope you took my comment in jest. I'm an engineer on the aerospace industry and grew up in awe of WWII and early turbo fan planes.

I commend you for your skill and courage, I really do. I also want to express my gratitude for your service to our country, my family and myself - thank you, thank you. The same goes for all just like you, yesterday and today. God hold you all.

No, I certainly did no take offense to your original comment, matter of fact thought it was rather humorous.

Thank you for the very kind remarks...Like those who came before me and those currently in the service of the USA were only doing our duty to protect our country from those who would destroy it.

Thanks again for your kind words and support

Statistisc...:shakehead: They are what we want them to be.

Websters defines "active as" :

characterized by action rather than by contemplation or speculation

marked by present operation,

Action and present operation would mean actually currently diving. Contemplation or speculation would be talking about it and posting on ScubaBoard.

IOW, posting on SB does not make you an "active" diver. Actually diving, presently diving, does.

If I make a hundred dives in November, and then stop in December, I am no longer active.

I would guess that the 8.5 million figure is horse droppings.
