Hellohello, I got an email newletter from Whitestar t'other day and it said that on Sunday, November 2nd they were accepting some end of the season help in the way of taking down platforms, pulling buoy's etc...

So... have any of you helped with this before? does this run from sunup Sunday to sundown? or only a few hours in the mid-afternoon?

Of the help that is needed, how much of it requires getting wet/diving? ie. if one Didnt want to suit up could they still be of assistance in some Top-side task?

If Divers are required how many do you think are needed?

Do interested parties signup in advance or does everyone just showup on the specified day ?

Would it be inappropriate to inquire about discounted Whitestar T-shirts for those civic-minded dive stewards ? :)

lemme know whatchu know... cus' Knowing is half the battle... (or so I learned from G.I.Joe)

You can just email me with questions when you have it but the basics are that we will be getting down there and getting started around 10:30am since it is really cold out earlier than that. It is diving out to the sites (if you have good compass skills) or surface swimming, disconnecting the buoy and swimming it back... we have volunteers for moving and sinking the platforms that can always use help. We can also use help topside if you want to wimp out :) since we are moving all the stuff from the concession back to A2 so we can rebuild the regs, vip the tanks, clean and repair the wetsuits etc. We may have some other stuff to do as well. This is really the first year that we have done it this way since this is the first year with the new (and somewhat expensive) buoys. It should not take too long... we only have a few hours of useable sunlight and it might snow :)

Would love to have your help even if it is just the moral support. Hard to think this way since the water is nearly 70 degrees right now.

BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out today and helped us with the buoys and platforms. It was an amazing day with nice weather, great visibility and warmer water than we expected. There were a number of Open Water Courses going on so we were a little late in getting the platforms stored away for the winter.

All I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU... I hope to see you out diving some more!

Rich
