Since the GLWC board has been somewhat quiet, and I was truly amazed today, I thought I would post today's dive report. I was teaching a PADI Drysuit Diver Course and the weather was rainy but at least it was warmer than usual. With the rain I was expecting the vis to be a little worse than usual, boy was I wrong. The run off from the rain was cooler than the quarry water so in places the run off water "pooled" and continued to flow in a stream underwater. The vis past these areas was unbelieveably amazing. You could see all three platforms lying on the bottom and you could see the motorcycle from the wooden boat... a distance of at least 80 ft. I wish I had brought a camera... the vis was better than my last trip to the Bahamas.

The water temp was 41 degrees in case you were wondering.

Hope you get out to enjoy it one last time before the ice comes!

Happy Holidays!
Rich

I thought it was closed for the season ?

The quarry itself is open. It is a public park, so it is open to normal public traffic - sun up to dusk.

The concession - including air fills and support - is closed for the season. Fill out your envelope, drop it into the pipe as you normally would.

I dived 2 Sundays ago, bottom temp about 46 degrees - viz at the rock crusher was easily 50ft.

The outhouses are operational and the changing rooms are open, btw.

Thanks for the report Rich. I sure wish I lived closer to White Star. I'm diving tomorrow and I'd love that over the options we have here in Indiana. Oh well ... at least I'll get wet before the ice comes, which will probably be early this year given the weather we've been having.
