white screen when turn on DC1200

so far my camera has worked perfectly; 2 trips, great shots, not one problem; so, i loan my camera to my brother in law for him to use in st. croix; (i know, never fails) ; before he goes he tries out the camera and it is working fine; he gets to his hotel (he carried the camera in the padded case on the plane), turns on the camera (lens extends, green light is on, etc) but - the screen is white; when the shutter release is pressed the flash fires but the screen remains white; has this happened to anyone? anyone know what is going on? or how to fix it? thanks

Try removing the battery, wait 1 minute and reinstall the battery.
