"Down Under Dive Shop
Getting reports that the Whiskey Wreck is uncovered and great viz today.
The Pass on the other hand. not so much."

This was just posted on facebook by Down Under Dive Shop. Anybody heading out there today or tomorrow???

I'm heading over Friday PM, probably. Looking for a boat out, or may just shore dive.

I'm not surprised. I expected the surge from T.S. Lee to move the sandbar a bit.

Hmm. I wonder if Paul's shrimp boat is uncovered...:hmmm::idea:

Never heard of Paul's shrimp boat?????

If you end up doing a shore dive let me know. Hubby's heading north for a fishing weekend so I'm bored.

Back in 2006, I was snorkeling off of West Beach and found a wreck. The water was so clear, you could see it distinctly from the surface.

Subsequently, it was reclaimed by the sand, and the vis is usually measured in inches.

Bugman even tried to salvage the prop off of it. It was covered in flounder and crabs, but was so shallow and small, it can't compare to the Whiskey wreck. Except that it was my "find."

Sweet! I'm sure it's pretty rare to be able to lay claim to a find that big. Did you at least get any pictures??

No. I didn't even bring a camera that weekend.

I do have Bugman as a witness, though.

Anyway, I can guide the Whiskey Wreck on Saturday. I have a trip with Viking on Sunday morning.

If I drive over Sat morning, it will be between 10 and noon. If I come over Friday night, it could be 7 or 8 am. I'm flexible.

Since High tide is at 10:53, I may run over to check out the shrimp boat before running to the Whiskey wreck.
So, I could leave New Orleans at 6am, get to the shrimp boat at 9:30 and to the Whiskey wreck by 11.

Are you talking about the wreck about a half mile to a mile past the cut on west beach or the shrimp boat on the bay side of west beach?
