Oh man. I don't check this website often, but we were at keystone on whidbey just today, you could have joined us! We go pretty often. Its a fantastic dive site! Forums like nwdiveclub or facebook are a little more active for divers around here.
There's a facebook group, underwater photogaphy at keystone that you could try to join to see photos of keystone and to try to join or make plans.

If you just want to splash and gain drysuit experience and don't want the hassle of cleaning salt water off all your gear, Heart Lake in the center of Fidalgo island has a nice beach to enter from...not much to see in the water but a good safe spot to get some time underwater in your drysuit. It is also a good spot to dive after the ocean to help deep rinse the salt water out of your gear...bear in mind that I have not been there since 2006, so I am just assuming its still ok to dive there.

Thanks, I don't know about those forums, I'll check them out - and maybe join you at keystone soon!

I'm not expecting much, i'm more wanting to get into the water, get more experience with my dry suit, and log more dives.

What is "The Fingers" and DPV or Skyline? I can't seem to find them anywhere online related to Anacortes
  • Possession Point Finder in South Whidbey. Excellent dive site, but requires some scheduling to access.
  • Skyline Marina is an excellent and colorful dive site near Anacortes. Requires some current planning.
  • Keystone Jetty near the Coupeville ferry is one of the best dive sites in Washington.
  • Deception Pass is an advanced dive site that is very current sensitive and requires an experience guide to introduce you to it.

I'd list Keystone as a place which requires pretty good knowledge of tides, almost more than Skyline in that it's not got a local current station.

Rosario Bay or Orchin Rocks is about the easiest diving around in terms of current and offers quite a bit to see. Then again it's a 10 minute drive for me so I do tend to dive it on a whim.

Love to join you at keystone in the future! Can I send you my phone number for future possibilities? I'm not far from there and have heard its good. I'll look up nwdiveclub, is there a particular facebook group

Rosario is only 20minutes for me, would be happy to join you some time. I'd just need enough lead time to get tanks

Rosario beach at Deception is an easy short dive and while it is easiest at high tide, it is not very current sensitive so long as you stay in the cove.

Hello, I'm an underwater photographer living in Portland, Oregon, and would like to meet up with someone or a group to dive at Keystone this fall. I prefer to be with folks who know how to time the slack tide.
