2 questions. I'm a shorter guy about to do Cavern and intro to cave and I'm not sure if the 5 or 7 foot hose is for me. Is it preference or will I want the 7 footer if I do more training? Second, where can I buy one? My LDS doesn't have any and I can't find them online. Any help would be great.

seven foot hose. This will route under the light canister(mandatory item) and around your neck. Try ebay, Leisurepro, etc. to find one, even Apeks 1/2 inch.

So what is the 5 footer for? I looked at leisurepro and didn't find any hoses. Are they there and I missed them?

Found the hoses at LP. Cheaper than I thought they would be. Still not sure about the 5vs7 foot question.

Hi J-Valve,

The rationale behind the 7 ft hose is that it allows for air sharing while travelling single file in the overhead environment (wreck or cave)

Since the 7 ft hose will be the one that you will donate, your size does not really matter - if you have a average size buddy, the 7 ft hose would allow you to travel single file and the 5 ft would not

Its also worth noting that the OOA diver will go out first if you are proceeding single file with one buddy or in the middle if you are in a 3 person team. If we were diving together, you'd need a 7 foot hose because I'm 6'3" tall. A five footer would not allow sufficient space.

I also prefer the routing on the 7 footer versus the 5. I found the 5 to be too short to route comfortably, even going under my arm instead of under the can light.

The 5 is appropriate for OW divers who want a longer primary hose. Since the 7 works well during OW diving, I usually recommend the 7.

Ditto. That was my experience also.

7' is absolutely necessary for swimming in tandem. Don't forget the fins add length (to both divers).

You won't notice the difference in length if routed properly...at least I didn't.

There is no reason to waste your money on a 5 ft hose.
