I am thinking of starting my technical diving.

where do you think is the best for future development as in Deep & Wreck and hopefully rebreather...

i am thinking of the following:

- TDI
- GUE
- DSAT

which one should i go for??

rgds
:D

Go for the best instructor you can find & whose teaching style works for you, regardless of training agency. Look at what branch of technical diving you want to start out with & find an instructor that fits the above criteria. Get referrals from other divers in that branch.

I believe that you have to look at the specifics of the course being offered. It's also wise to discuss the training with the instructor and review what others have to say who've taken the program. Like any training course, you have to manage expectations.

I would also suggest that you consider the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) who has technical programs in Trimix, Cave, CCR and Scooter. Good luck with your decision and enjoy!

aha i see,,,

well the problem is that i live in Oman and we dont have many tech divers here,,, you can count them by ur fingers!!!

most of them were trained in Thailand or UK...

currently in Oman there is:

- 1 GUE instructor
- 1 DSAT instructor

couldnt find any TDI instructor :(

I am more into wrecks so TDI would be good!!!

Can you move from one agency to the other in tech or do you need to do the whole course again???

No experience with other agencies, but I've been consistently impressed with the teaching skills, helpfulness and pleasant personalities of the GUE instructors I've come across.

Just a point of reference,

Henrik

I would highly recommend contacting the GUE instructor about a Fundamentals class. No matter which direction you choose for further training, the Fundamentals class will be an excellent foundation. If you are seriously interested in rebreathers, however, GUE is not the agency you will want to work with, as they limit rebreathers to a specific SCR and use it only at the very highest levels of training/diving.

Just curious, why the interest in a rebreather so early? They take a LOT of diving to save any money, and aren't really needed unless you're going really deep. Even 1-2 mile cave penetrations are easily done on open circuit unless they're deep, certainly not wrecks.

For TDI and DSAT, crossing over is OK. For GUE, you have to do the whole list of courses again. One more issue about GUE training is that you can't take the course you want immediately. You have to find an instructor with the proper rating and wait till he/she collects enough candidates. I've heard divers traveling for long distances and waiting for several months (sometimes more than a year) to get the GUE course they want.

I recommend trying a tropical location for your training. The Red Sea has a lot of technical instructors. Thailand might be a good idea as well.

:D well here is Y!!

I live in Oman; it used to be the strongest naval force in the 15-16 century. With water temp in summer time of 33 deg Celsius.
I am fascinated with wrecks.
Found a chart of the wrecks around Oman and it turns out there are at least hundreds of different wrecks that are deeper than 50m. I am starting a self project to document the wrecks in the oman. Currently visiting wrecks in depth less than 40m.
So my only option is to going for a tech diving & rebreather diving if I want to visit the deep wrecks in few years time!

And there is the U-boat at around a depth of 150m :D

The 2nd reason!

We have a network of caves in Oman, more than 40% are filled with water! So I want to go and try to explore them. (If any of you cave instructors are interested send me a msg for details)

Most of these Wrecks & Caves are never explored and as far as my knowledge goes no one ever attempted such a thing...

So the only way for me to gain knowledge on how attempted to this is through the Scuba Board amazing divers.
