In Oz you can have 2 types of steel Faber 100cft tanks at a WP of 232bar. Both are 12.2lt x 232bar tanks, one is the compact version, that I hardly ever see, & the standard version, that are everywhere.

Try to hook up with the local (at least in the same country) GUE crowd and they should be helpful. In my local community there's always gear being sold/bought/loaned out to friends and buddies. Give them a shout maybe they can provide better answers than we can 7,416 miles away....

Go talk to Dive Imports in Scarborough Beach Road, Mount Hawthorne. They have all the tanks on display, manifolds etc. They will know the difference between FX and whatever, and have the best prices in Oz on tanks. There are tech, cave, gue instructors around that might have advice for you. Try http://wadivers.com.au/forums/ and http://www.diveoz.com.au/discussion_forums/default.asp to locate the local training/advice you are looking for.

Oops, just assumed you were in WA given your occupation!

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here as the string is also relevant to me. I'm also new to diving and am looking for my first tank. I dive fresh water and het the short duration dives I get with an 80cft. My wife has to surface with 1500-2000lb left in her 80 when I take mine down to 500. I'm a big guy (6'4", 250lb) and use alot of air. I saw the 149 Cubic Foot FX Series High Pressure Steel Scuba Tank for sale but I want to be sure it's worth the expense. With so little experience with tanks and no one in my area renting large sizes, I want to do all I can to prevent feeling ripped off or disappointed. All the advice I can get will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
