Adding my two cents. Laura has some schweet Innovative spring straps that I use exclusively.

ALSO, she is a huge supporter of SB and has exemplary customer service.

Although I have a blue H tatoo'd on my butt, there are some things that are just dog gone better.

I am a So Cal beach diver, and that pull on the back has saved me countless times from getting Maytag'd.

Go on, give Laura a call, you wont be dissappointed.

Although I have three sets of spring straps, my favorites are these;

They are cheap, about a quarter, last a long time and are much easier to grip with one finger underwater than the springs.
I found the idea here;

For those of you who use spring straps without a pull tab, any tips on getting them on? I love spring straps, but getting on my Turtles with XS Scuba straps over my Trek boots with 5mm gloves is a bit of a challenge. The fins fit great so that isn't the issue. I just find it a bit of a struggle every time as there isn't really much to grap onto to pull the strap up and over the rubber jobber on the back of the boots.

I bought a set of FaraFins back in the early 1970's, I still use them. They came with spring straps with the best rubber pad you can imagine.

A nice review of "my" kind of spring straps page 54. I really like the wide "cushion" instead of the single spring which hurt my heel. And TSandM doesn't quite have her facts right -- I had to do a little "restructuring" of the split fins to get these straps to work -- they fit right on my Turtles.

I made my own. It was really easy, took less than an hour to do two sets, and after getting the parts on McMaster Carr for a very low price I have an extra set of springs and parts just in case. I did have a cave line retainer come undone once, so I sent it to the manufacturer for a free repair and had it back in time for the second dive with no shipping charges. :wink:

I use the scuba pro spring straps on my jets. They seem to work well. I have never used any other spring straps, so I don't have anything to compare them to. They are definitely better than the rubber straps. They just seem more secure and I don't have to adjust them all the time.

I tried the pliers and screwdriver method for removing the old pins, and it didn't work. I ended up having to cut them off.

I have these and like TSM's hubby I like and use the pull tab everytime. Especially since I use dry gloves. The rubber part also helps insulate you from the spring. http://www.divesports.com/mall/innovative_acc_springstrapsjetfins.asp

Wayward son comes well recommended on this board too.
I have the Innovative straps also, and really like them. Very easy to put on: Tear off old buckle with a pair of pliers in each hand, insert new spring straps, squeeze in tight with pliers. Done.

I like the rubber heel cup with pull-tab more than the simple barrel style, but YMMV. If I was going for the barrel style I'd probably get the XS Scuba ones.

I believe DiveSportsOnline carries both for a great price.

I have a set Oceanics that I've had forever. They still work!
