Technical diving pretty much covers everything beyond the scope of a recreational diver. Before we go any further, I'd like to stress that the transition into tech diving is very gradual, don't try to force it. As a recreational diver a mistake can result in DCS or worse.. while a technical diver making a mistake will most certainly result in... well you get the idea, it's not a pleasant thing so let's not dwell on it...

Technical diving includes but is not limited to: Advanced Nitrox use, Extended Range diving, Trimix, and custom Mix diving, closed circuit rebreathers, overhead environments like caverns and caves etc.

Take your time, patience is a virtue, but in diving it keeps you alive!

Man, I've got to try one. I've been eyeballing them, just haven't had the opportunity yet. I'm in need of a new reg set and really like the size of the G600, but was leaning more towards the Apeks TX50 due to there rep. Actually thought about buying it for the wife and see if I like it. If so then steal it, if not then let her keep it, he he. I can get either locally, but the shop that carries the ScubaPro gear is new ground to me. Time to get to know the owner a little better! How'd you compare the two, TX50(w/swivel 1st stage) vs. G600 & MK20?

If you ask me which is better, which I can't live without, it's the Mk20/G500 or the new 600. Nothing compares to it's consistency in ease of breathing... Oh, and if a Carcharodon carcharias is chasing you... you might as well whip out your knife and cut a peice off of your butt... so you can kiss it goodbye! LOL Just kidding by the way...

You'll enjoy the ScubaPro more, even though you intend to use it in purely recreational depths. Which by the way, makes me think of a new thread to start... stay tuned fellow King Neptune followers cuz here it comes...

I have to say, I've NEVER heard anything bad about Apeks.
The US version is the Zeagle line, although I hear that they are no longer affilitated and Zeagle has reportedly improved the line slightly.

250 pounds is very heavy! What kind of B.C. are you using for that beast? LOL... In all seriousness, that's a great price for a reg as great as the Mk20/G600, run to the shop for that one... just make sure the warrenty is legit.

Do you have any additional info on SITA, sounds like DETA and SITA should set up some dialoge for future meetings to discuss industry issues. It is DETA's desire to work with many Associations and Manufacturers to help the Industry increase their support for Repair Technicians and get them the Recognition they deserve.

The first thing I did when you brought up the info was check the website, I have sent them 2 e-mails now with no reply, at the site not a whole lot of info to work with. I will keep trying and let you know whats up.

Santa brought me a MK16 S550 Scubapro reg for xmas, and I absolutely love it! My boyfriend has a MK20 S600, but I tend to shy away from piston regs...mainly because I'm REALLY lazy when it comes to rinsing them out. Course, so is he, but as an instructor, he dives all the time...while mine actually has a chance to dry off and gets that crusty green salt stuff all over it! Gotta hate having to work for a living!

But, I will say the bubbles did bother me a little. Just something I have to get used to. The reg I was using before was an old Seaquest Spectrum first and second stage...which worked great. But I did notice the shorter exhaust. Not near as bad as the micra (tried that once and hated it!)

Since I work during the day, most of my dives seem to be at night, and the bubbles are much more aggrevating at night for some reason! But, like I said, its just something that takes getting used to.

Other than that, I wouldn't give my new reg up for the world!

Oh...speaking of Tech diving...what does everyone think of PADI's new Tech/Wreck addition?

Actually I've heard that the new Zeagle line has been inproved substantially, enough so that I will be contacting them and possibly aquiring one at DEMA. The other one I've begun to look into that looks like a definite winner is the Draeger reg. More on this to come...

I dive a B-1 and have been down to 160fsw, swam against currents,& dragged it through the sand with it and there was no change in the performance I also have a tusa ir-3(same as an airII)not the best breathing but it will do the job and some.
